Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal’s “The Fall Guy” won the weekend at the box office, kicking off the summer movie season with a $28.5M debut. The Ryan Gosling movie, which got strong reviews out of South by Southwest, sports an A- CinemaScore from audiences.
BOX OFFICE RUNNER-UPS: Disney’s (DIS) “Star Wars: Episode I â The Phantom Menace” 2024 re-release place number two placed number two with $8.1M as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Behind it was MGM Amazon Studios’ (AMZN) “Challengers” with $7.6M in its second outing. Sony (SONY) and Screen Gem’s “Tarot” placed number four with a $6.5M debut. Rounding out the top five, Warner Bros. (WBD) and Legendary’s “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” grossed an estimated $4.5M.
